Christmas 2015

Humble Blogger with wife Rose at Halloween costume party
Christmas gives us the opportunity to reflect on our special moments in 2015!

January:  We spent a week in Phoenix with Rose's BFF Maddy & Bill.  The 4 of us stayed at a "haunted" hotel in Jerome, AZ for a couple of nights and then went to Old Tucson Movie Studio and Tombstone.   We had dinner one night at Tiny's Saloon & Steakhouse in Tucson, where no one was tiny and one needed an enormous appetite.  A fun place!

June:  We took a road trip with Rose's kids & grandkids to Estes Park, CO where we all had mountain cabins.  Son Andy and his wife Nicole and daughter Deanna and significant other, Michael spent 5 hours at the "haunted" Stanley Hotel in the dead of night with a ghost adventure crew. They set up ghost hunting equipment in the opera house and monitored the ghostly action.  The next day we went on a ghost tour of the hotel and ran into a ghost named Lucy.  Dave & I stayed at the Stanley, where everyone's TV played The Shining over & over again all night long.   Dave heard some ghostly footsteps in the night and the shower door opened mysteriously and left a puddle of water (I hope) on the carpet.  From Estes we drove to Ft Collins KOA and then to Palmer Gulch, SD KOA.  Poor or no cell coverage in the mountains and in the Gulch and it took everyone a few days to get used to that.  We made a lot of great family memories!

July:  Dave "made" his 43rd annual 4-day (silent) retreat at the Jesuit Retreat House in North St. Paul and traveled with Rose to Rochester, MN for his 55th Lourdes HS reunion which included a tour of the new High school. Dave manages the Lourdes HS website at lhs60blogspot.com.

October:  We took a trip to sleepy little Green Bay, WI for our 21st anniversary in Oct and stayed at the charming St. Brendan's Inn.   We also spent a little time in Stevens Point and Polonia, WI where all of Rose's Kashubian ancestors farmed and were buried

More News: We have greatly enjoyed our 13 grandchildren (8 for Rose and 5 for Dave) and all their activities and accomplishments!  Ages range from 4 to 18.

Rose still works (periodically) at the Polish Kashubian museum in Winona and at the museum up north in Askov, MN.   She invented a new museum product, called "accessionPad™ " which makes it easier for small museums to accept new artifacts.  She began marketing this product a few weeks ago via mailings and a website called www.accessionpad.com    Also, she is still playing mandolin with the trio BandanAhhh!  (website www.danperrybandana.com). The group entertains at senior/baby boomer apartments and complexes for happy hours & parties.  Rose is starting to run into friends from the "old days" at these places.

Dave continues to enjoy 5 mile walks along White Bear Lake during the nice(er) 9 months of the year and is planning his next batch of wine.

Note: Greeting card photo is from an October 2015 Halloween costume party at "The Station" in White Bear Lake, MN. We were after a  "High Plains Drifter" look from the 1973 Clink Eastwood movie.

We wish all our family and good friends a Blessed Christmas and  prosperous 2016!
